Man killed in Jalan Rock accident identified as Indonesian politician Arkadius Mungpin

KUCHING, April 16: The Indonesian pedestrian killed in an accident along Jalan Rock yesterday has been identified as a people’s representative (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah) for Sanggau constituency in Kalimantan Barat.

The lawmaker was Arkadius Mungpin, 44, who is a member of the Partai Golongan Karya (Golkar) political party.

According to a report by Tribun Pontianak today, Golkar Sanggau branch chief Fransiskus Ason in a statement said the deceased was visiting Kuching for medical treatment.


Ason said he received information that Arkadius was crossing the road for breakfast at Central Park Commercial Centre here before he was hit by a pickup truck.

Yesterday, Kuching district police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the victim was pronounced dead by paramedics in the incident which occurred around 7.28am.

The police are currently investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
