KUCHING, April 11: ANGKASA Sarawak and the Ministry for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) aims to strengthen their collaboration to enhance youth economic empowerment by leveraging the strength of its over 1,000 registered cooperatives across Sarawak.
During a recent courtesy visit by ANGKASA Sarawak to the MYSED, chairman Wan Azizan Wan Zainal Abidin emphasised that ANGKASA is ready to work together with MYSED to expand their impact across the State.
Among the key initiatives discussed was the National Petanque Tournament for Cooperatives, which may include participation from BIMP-EAGA countries (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines).
This regional sporting and cooperative collaboration is expected to promote economic and cultural exchange while positioning Sarawak as a hub for cooperative-driven engagement.
“We believe youth are the backbone of Sarawak’s future. Through cooperatives, we can offer them more than just income opportunities — we can provide a system of growth, leadership, and sustainability,” he was quoted as saying in a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).
MYSED also expressed its support for ANGKASA Sarawak’s proactive approach, emphasising that the cooperative movement remains a powerful and inclusive platform to engage youth in meaningful socio-economic development. – DayakDaily
