Man jailed 4 months for cutting cable belonging to Maxis

KUCHING, Aug 12: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a man to four months’ imprisonment for cutting a cable belonging to a telecommunications company.

Amirrul Akbar Fathi, 32, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 431A of the Penal Code.

Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali accepted his guilty plea and sentenced him to four months in jail.

The accused was charged with cutting the cable belonging to Maxis Bhd at a Maxis tower located in Landeh, at about 12pm on April 14, 2021.

He was charged under Section 431A of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term up to seven years or fine, or both, upon conviction.
