Man jailed 10 years, to be whipped 5 times for gang robbery

KUCHING, Dec 10: The Sessions Court here sentenced an unemployed man to ten years in jail and five strokes of the rotan for gang robbery.

Sessions Court Judge Mohd Taufik Mohd Yusoff convicted Shahrizat Abul, 25, after a full trial.

The accused was found guilty of committing gang robbery with two others who are still at large on a man at the car park area of a family mart in Travillion Mall, at about 4.30am on November 8, 2018.

Among the items taken were an ATM card, Class D driving licence, Casio watch, amplifier, woofer, car key and identity card.

The accused was charged under Section 395 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term of up to twenty years and liable to whipping, upon conviction.

DPP Danial Ilham Kamaruddin prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
