KUCHING, Aug 13: The Sessions Court here sentenced an unemployed man to imprisonment of 10 years and 3 strokes of the cane for raping his underage girlfriend.
The 25-year-old pleaded guilty to the charge of rape.
Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga accepted his guilty plea and sentenced him to imprisonment of 10 years and 3 strokes of the cane.
He allegedly raped the 13-year-old girl at Kampung Bintawa Hilir in March 2019.
The victim became pregnant and DNA results confirmed that the accused was the biological father.
He was charged under Subsection 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum imprisonment of 20 years and liable to whipping, upon conviction.
