Veterans association to open mobile counter starting Aug 18

SIBU, Aug 13: The Sarawak Malaysian Armed Forces Veteran Association is calling on former servicemen in the central region to participate in its forthcoming mobile counter.

The counter will be opened on August 18 at Kem Bumimas here for veterans residing in Sibu, Kanowit, Sarikei, Bintangor Pakan and areas nearby. The second one is on August 19 at Mukah Civic Centre for those living in Mukah, Matu, Daro and Balingian.

Its president, Francis Yeo said at the counter, veteran could perform several services such as applying for Armed Force veteran card, nomination for Pingat Jasa Malaysia (PJM) and updating of welfare aid.


“I urge veterans staying at those places and areas nearby to be present at the mobile counter especially those who want to receive welfare aid,” he added.

According to Yeo, the director of the association, Major Pahot Joll will also be at the mobile counter during those two days, assisting in answering queries from the veterans.

For veterans who want to become members of the association, he urged them to apply at the counter by bringing along their service book, three copies of their photo,  RM125 fee and photocopies of their identity card and that of their spouse.

The fee, he said was for the purchase of the corporate uniform.
