KUCHING, May 24: A 26-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years in prison and three strokes of the cane by the Sessions Court today after pleading guilty to raping an 11-year-old girl.
Judge Saiful Bahari Adzmi handed down the sentence after the accused admitted to the charge under Section 376(2)(e) of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of 10 to 30 years in prison and caning.
The crime took place in Lundu around 2pm on May 11, 2024.
According to the case facts, the girl’s father found an unknown man in his house with his daughter. He immediately reported the incident to the police, leading to the man’s arrest.
Investigations revealed that the accused raped the victim after talking to her for 30 minutes.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohammad Fauzan Zamri prosecuted the case, while the accused was not represented by a lawyer. — DayakDaily
