KUCHING, May 24: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has been urged to swiftly address the uncovered manhole issue at Sentosa Central.

Michael Kong, special assistant to Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen, highlighted that the open manhole, located in the middle of the road, poses a significant hazard to road users, particularly those unfamiliar with the area.

“Recently, a Grab driver ended up driving into the hole, causing a tyre puncture and incurring a significant loss.

“This issue has been ongoing for more than a month, and despite the matter being brought to the attention of MPP, no action has been taken yet,” he said in a statement today.

Kong expressed that the lack of response is unacceptable and reflects severe negligence.

“I have lodged a formal complaint to MPP about this matter. It is imperative that local councils improve their service to the public and fulfill their obligations with greater diligence and urgency,” he added. — DayakDaily
