Man further remanded for 7 days, allegedly pimped out 10yo daughter as sex slave

KUCHING, Oct 3: A man who allegedly pimped out his 10-year-old daughter as a sex slave had his remand extended for seven days.

The 45-year-old suspect was arrested by the police on September 27, at about 2pm. Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi allowed the police to remand the suspect for five days.

The first remand expired today and the suspect was brought before the Magistrate’s Court by the police to apply for further remand.

The magistrate allowed the police to extend the suspect’s remand for seven days until October 10 to assist the police to further investigate the case.

A second suspect who is a friend of the first suspect will be remanded until October 6.

The incident came to light after the girl told her school teacher who subsequently lodged a police report.

The victim had been sent to Sarawak Genera Hospital for further examination.

According to the source, the victim had allegedly been sent to an ‘uncle’ numerous times by her father in exchange for money.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(b) of the Child Act 2001 and Section 376 of the Penal Code.

According to Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, any person who has in his or her care a child being neglected or abandoned, or exposes the child in a manner likely to cause him/her physical or emotional injury can be fined not exceeding RM20,000 or imprisoned for a term not exceeding ten years, or both. — DayakDaily
