Man from Kpg Subak, Bekenu remanded for criminal intimidation case

MIRI, Sept 1:  A man from Kampung Subak, Bekenu has been remanded for four days until Sept 5 to assist the police in a criminal intimidation case.

The man was detained today by a team from Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following a report lodged by a complainant who is also from the same village.


The case is being investigated under Section 506 for criminal intimidation and Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing damage through act of mischief.

According to sources, the suspect was spotted wandering in the complainant’s fruit orchard at Kampung Subak, Bekenu in a four-wheel-drive on Saturday (August 31).

When the complainant attempted to stop the suspect, the suspect was alleged to have sped off in his vehicle.

The complainant went to the suspect’s house at 6.30 pm that evening, to confront the latter.  Instead of a friendly interaction, the suspect was alleged to demand the complainant to leave using a shotgun.

The suspect was also alleged to have smashed the car’s windows of the complainant.

Worried for his safety, the complainant immediately lodged a police report. — DayakDaily
