Man fined RM2,300 for hurting girlfriend who wanted to end relationship

KUCHING, Aug 16: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a man to a fine of RM2,300 for voluntarily causing hurt to his then girlfriend because she wanted to break up with him.

Mohammad Kamarudeen Kep, 27, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years or finem or with whipping, upon conviction.


Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali sentenced the accused to a fine of RM2,300 or in default to 3 months’ imprisonment.

The accused was charged with voluntarily causing hurt to a 24-year-old female in a rented room at Jalan Matang, Kubah Ria, at about 1.30pm on August 11, 2022.

According to the brief facts of the case, the accused and the victim were in a relationship at the time. On the day the incident happened, the woman wanted to break up with him.

The accused was unsatisfied and they had an argument where the accused hurt the victim with a helmet resulting in an injury to the victim’s head.
