EC: More than 40,000 people registered as new voters in July

KUCHING, Aug 16: A total of 40,989 people above the age of 18 have been registered as new voters through the automatic voter registration system between July 1 and 31.

In a statement today, the Election Commission (EC) secretary Dato Indera Ikmalrudin Ishak said of the figure, 13,481 registered voters changed their constituency and 4,116 changed their status or voter category.

“The Additional Voter Register for Month of July 2022 (DPT BLN7/2022) was certified on Aug 15 and gazetted today. The electoral roll is now open for review for 30 days until Sept 14,” he said.


Indera also called on citizens aged 18 and above as of July 1 and 31 as well as registered voters who have applied to change constituency or status to check their names in the latest electoral roll.

“If their names are not listed, thay can file a claim by filling in Form C via online application at http://myspr.spr.gov.my or visit the relevant EC Office,” he added.

Meanwhile, any registered voter in a constituency who upon review intends to object to the entry of a voter’s name who changed their constituency may fill in Form D and submit it at the State Election Office.

Form C and D can be downloaded from the State Election Office portal via http://ppn.spr.gov.my and must be submitted to the relevant State Election director during office hours on working days during the review period of DPT BLN7/2022.
