RUN4MANKIND on Nov 6 aims to raise RM300k for Red Crescent activities

KUCHING, Aug 16: The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Sarawak Chapter aims to attract over 1,500 participants and raise RM300,000 through its ‘RUN4MANKIND’ event taking place on Nov 6 at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Foyer, starting at 6am.

MRC Sarawak Chapter chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan said that the run aims to raise funds in support of MRCS’s humanitarian work in the community, such as but not limited to ambulance services, food aid services, trainings, first aid services, blood donation and many more.

“We require a huge fund for crises and disaster preparedness and management. We need a huge fund for disasters like fire and flood, which occur frequently in Sarawak.


“Hence, the generous support and sponsorship from the public is essential for MRCS in Sarawak to sustain its operations to support the community is important.

“This (the run) would be distinctly a manifestation of the power of humanity for people of all walks of life coming together supporting a worthy humanitarian cause – ‘Together we are #unstoppable’,” he said in a statement today.

The run, organised in collaboration between MRCS Sarawak Chapter, Kuching Branch and Stampin Branch, is open for registration starting today (Aug 16) via its website bit.ly/run4mankind2022.

Participants can take advantage of the early bird registration rates at RM50 for both adults and students (pre-school, primary and secondary until Aug 31 and thereafter, the normal rates will be RM60 for adults and RM50 for students until Sept 30.

The run is divided into three categories with two running distances of 3km and 5km, and a VIP section for Ministers, elected representatives (YBs), heads of Departments, CEOs and corporate heads respectively.

For the VIP section, the registration rate for individuals is RM1,000 and for ministers, YBs and corporate organisations is RM5,000 and above. For corporate registration, they will be entitled to send five participants for every RM5,000 sponsorship.

The organiser is also appealing for the participation and generous sponsorship from ministers, YBs, individuals, corporate organisations and business entities as part of their corporate social responsibility efforts.
