Man fined for creating nuisance to neighbours during MCO

SIBU, Jan 30: Staying at home during this Movement Control Period (MCO) does not mean you can do anything that you like until you are creating nuisance to your neighbours.

This was what a 21-year-old man at Jalan Tun  Ahmad Zaidi Adruce here found out at 1.15am today. He was fined RM1,000 for singing karaoke aloud.

A neighbour, unhappy that his sleep had been interrupted by him, called up the police MPV team.

The MPV team responded swiftly in arriving at the man’s door.

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the man confessed to making loud noise with his karaoke singing.

“His other friends were sound asleep after a drinking session while he was busy entertaining himself on his karaoke set,” he said.

Separately three women, aged between 26 to 34, were also fined the same amount each for wandering aimlessly at Jalan Market area at 3.20am today.

“Compounding action was taken against the trio after they failed to explain why they were still in the town and not at home around this hour,” said Stanley.

All of them had committed an offence under Regulation 15 (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in the Area of Infection Area) (No.2) Regulations 2021. — DayakDaily
