SIBU, Aug 11: A 47-year-old jobless man was found dead in a budget hotel at Jalan Channel today.

Sibu District Police Chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the police received a call from the hotel receptionist at about 8.50am concerning a guest who was found lifeless in a room.

“A police team rushed to the scene and found the naked body of the man. Paramedic from the hospital who arrived at the hotel at 8.37am pronounced him dead,” he said.

Stanley said the man from Jalan Kemuyang had checked into the hotel on August 7 for a one-night stay.

However he extended his stay by another night to August 9.

“He had not even paid for the room yet before he passed away,” he added.

The man’s brother and his wife came to identify the body.

“His brother told the police that the deceased was not working and had been begging in the street before his death,” said Stanley.

The police have classified the case as sudden death as there were no signs of foul play. — DayakDaily
