No new Covid-19 clusters reported, 95 clusters still active in Sarawak


KUCHING, Aug 11: No new Covid-19 clusters were declared today, but 76 more cases were added to nine active clusters in Sarawak.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, reported that the Kampung Git Cluster in Kuching here added the most number of cases at 46 today to bring the cluster’s total to 127.

Of the total cases, there are 112 active cases in the community cluster which stemmed from a few families from the village located along KM27, Off Jalan Puncak Borneo.


Following a two-day active case detection (ACD) operation in Kampung Haji Baki that started on Monday, the cluster detected another nine cases. This increased the cluster’s tally to 32 cases, out of which 24 are active cases.

The Kampung Bunuk Cluster identified at Jalan Puncak Borneo in Kuching added eight more cases to increase its cluster total to 127, out of which 112 are active cases.

The remaining six clusters that recorded an increase in daily infections are Kampung Pulo Ulo Cluster in Kuching which added four more cases; Braang Payang Cluster in Kuching (3 cases); 511 Sentosa Cluster in Kuching and Kampung Tanjung Bako Cluster in Kuching (2 cases each); while Jalan Pisang Raja Cluster in Bintulu and Lorong Cahaya Damai Cluster in Kuching has one case each.

SDMC has also declared the end of the Nanga Tada Cluster in Kanowit, after no new cases were reported in the past 28 days.

With that, the number of active clusters in Sarawak now stands at 95.

Meanwhile, the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) has been enforced on three localities in Bintulu and one locality each in Sebauh and Sri Aman.

In Bintulu, the areas placed under lockdown from Aug 10-23 are the workers quarters of Sung Lee Transportation at Kemena Industrial Estate, the workers quarters of KTS Timber Processing Sdn Bhd and the quarters of Kidurong Education Institute.

In Sebauh, the area placed under lockdown from Aug 10-23 is Rh Gong Laing in Long Maktub, Tubau; while in Sri Aman involved Rh Sering in Kampung Bangkong, Pantu from Aug 11-24. — DayakDaily
