As at press time at 2.45pm, he was still up there at a height of about 60m.
KanowitĀ Fire and RescueĀ chief Arrahman Chik said they received a call from the police at 8.20am,Ā seeking help to get the man down.
Arrahman said the man would become aggressive and started to throw certain objects, which could be nuts when he saw police officers and members of the public approaching the tower.
āEach time our men try to convince him to climb down, he would do so to about 45m in height but after that,Ā he would go up again. This goes on several times,āĀ heĀ said.
Arrahman said it was believed that the man was under stress, as he could be heard shouting that someone wanted to assault him. This could have prompted him to go up the tower.
The police had cordoned the area to prevent the public from getting near the tower.
Firemen are waiting patiently for the man to surrender himself. ā DayakDaily
