Man claims trial to charges of intimidation and causing hurt to wife

Man pleads not guilty to intimidation, causing hurt to wife.

KUCHING, Dec 4: A jobless man claimed trial for threatening to cause death to his wife and intentionally causing hurt to her out of jealousy.

Jessy Sakup, 37, was charged at Magistrate’s Court here today.


He pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali fixed January 5 for case management.

Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah also allowed the accused to be released on a cash bail of RM3,000.00 for both charges with one local surety.

He was charged with causing hurt to his wife during the subsistence of a valid marriage by beating and punching his wife’s face and head and strangling her neck out of jealousy at their house in Kampung Stampin Baru, at about 11pm on November 22, 2020.

He was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code to be read together with Section 326A of the Penal Code.

At the same time, he was also charged with threatening to kill his wife with a Parang at their house.

He was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, which carries a maximum imprisonment of 7 years or with fine or both, upon conviction. _ DayakDaily
