Duo claim trial to trafficking syabu in Lundu rented house

KUCHING, Dec 4: A pair of friends claimed trial in the Kuching High Court to trafficking syabu at their rented house in Lundu.

Jection Buang, 43, and his female friend Umi Alwanis Mohd Yusoff, 32, pleaded not guilty to the charge framed.

High Court Judge Alexander Siew How Wai fixed Feb 15 to 19 and Feb 25 to 26, 2021 for trial.

The duo were allegedly found trafficking 56.65 grammes of methamphetamine with common intention at their rented house in Jalan Seketi, Lundu, at about 11am on May 15, 2020.

They were charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under subsection 39B(2) of the same Act and to be read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which carries a death sentence or imprisonment for life and shall, if the person is not sentenced to death, be punished with whipping of not less than fifteen strokes, upon conviction.
