SIBU, Nov 2: A 32-year-old jobless man was arrested after allegedly setting a car on fire in Kampung Hilir here, yesterday.
Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said a Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) was conducting their daily patrol in the area when they received the report at 11.15pm.
“They went to the scene and found out that a sedan vehicle is on fire on the road side of Jalan Kampung Hilir and detained the suspect.
“The suspect was drunk when arrested and was brought to Sibu police station, while the fire was put out by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba),” he said in a press statement.
He added that the burned car belonged to a police officer, which was parked in front of the sibling house, as he was currently back to his hometown.
The case is being investigated under Section 435 (mischief by fire) of the Penal Code.— DayakDaily
