BETONG, Nov 2: A man has died while another suffered burns in a kitchen fire at a house in Jalan Perumahan Bebangai here, this evening.
According to a statement from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operation Centre, a report was received at 5.54pm and Bomba Betong branch was dispatched to the scene where firefighters found that only the kitchen section of the house caught on fire.
Firefighters used offensive fire fighting tactic to extinguish the flames.
They later found the deceased’s body laying face-down in the bathroom floor, and immediately brought the body outside, before being pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, another victim, who was the house occupant, suffered a second degree burn and was brought to the Betong Hospital.
It was learnt that the deceased, who was a friend to the victim, had just arrived today for a visit.
The body was handed over to the police for investigation.— DayakDaily
