JULAU, Aug 5: A man was arrested for possessing a homemade air rifle in Pakan yesterday (Aug 4).
Julau district police chief Deputy Superintendent Andam Sulin said the 43-year-old was arrested while driving a white Proton Wira in an ‘Op Laras’ raid at 10.30am.
“The results of the investigation carried out by the police found an air rifle believed to be homemade which was kept in the bonnet of the man’s car,” he said today.
He said the man admitted that the rifle belonged to him, and he had been using it for hunting animals in the forest near his house.
Andam said the case is being investigated under Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960 for possessing a weapon without a license or permit.
If convicted, the offender is liable to imprisonment of not more than seven years or a fine of not more than RM10,000, or both. — DayakDaily
