According to Deputy Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, who is also Batang Ai assemblyman, the festival also aims to promote the traditional food and culture of the local community, as well as beautiful scenery along Lubok Antu Waterfront.

“Apart from that, it will help boost the local tourism industry especially for Lubok Antu areas,” he told a press conference held after the courtesy visit from Lubok Antu Food Festival 2023 organising committee members at his office in Wisma Sumber Alam here today.

Malcolm said at the moment, the programmes organised at the event are limited to local participation.

However, he said that they will probably invite other participants such as from Indonesia too in the next one.

“I think it will attract a huge crowd especially from the surrounding communities,” he added.

Meanwhile, Lubok Antu Food Festival 2023 organising chairman Richard Ngumbang said there will be about 60 stalls at the event selling food and many other items.

He also revealed they have invited six singers, namely Linda, Jeff Dom, Eyqa Saiful, Johny Aman, Ramles Walter and Lucy M to entertain visitors in the evenings.

“There is also a ‘Pansuh Ikan’ (fish cooked in bamboo culms) competition, Tuak competition, karaoke competition, and ‘Sukan Rakyat’ (blowpipe and tug of war competitions),” he said.
