KUCHING, Sept 16: Twenty-two students from Lodge National Secondary School were among the 254 young Malaysians to receive their Gold Awards from HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex recently on Sept 11 2019.
According to a press release, this award is known as the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award and the award presentation ceremony took place in Cyberjaya.
At the same ceremony, two teachers from the school also received their certificates of Mentor of the Award.
The 22 students are currently in Form 5 and they represent the largest number of Gold Award holders in Sarawak this year. In order to achieve the award, participants have to complete 5 sections, namely Sports, Skills, Community Service, Adventurous Journey and Residential Project.
“I am honoured to receive the award and it is truly an amazing journey from Bronze to Gold level. It is a challenge to juggle between studies, my role as head girl and the award, but I have learn so much along the way and it is definitely worth it!” said Angeline Hii Xiao Shiun, one of the recipients.
Lodge National Secondary School principal Su Hiong Ai said the award provides a great platform for students to experience wholesome learning in their secondary school years.
Meanwhile, Lodge Group of Schools director Thomas Huo congratulated all recipients and hoped the students will continue to strive for excellence in their studies as well as in co-curricular activities. — DayakDaily
