KUCHING, July 28: The fire that broke out at a landfill in Lingga on Sunday (July 26) has been fully extinguished, with only small amounts of smoke still visible rising from the piles of rubbish.
In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department, the situation has been brought under control, with no further risk of the fire spreading as total flooding had been carried out around the affected area and firebreaks had also been established.
The Sri Aman District Council (MDSA) also deployed an excavator to create access routes and construct firebreaks.
Further action has been handed over to MDSA and the appointed contractor, while the Sri Aman station will continue to monitor the situation at the site.
The operation concluded at 2.30pm today. — DayakDaily
