LIMBANG, Oct 4: The proposed upgrading project of Limbang Hospital has been included in the Fourth Rolling Plan (RP4) of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Deputy Minister of Health Dato Lukanisman Awang Sauni said the project will take time, and he will bring this plan forward to 13MP for the necessary allocation.

“The allocation requested under 13MP is to develop the hospital and also Type 3 clinics or polyclinics.

“This is because, under the discussion of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), each division is required to have a comprehensive clinic, which is a polyclinic,” he said when met by the media during his work visit to Limbang Hospital yesterday (Oct 3).

He further said the Limbang Hospital upgrading project involves the construction of a new building block like Miri Hospital to have a clinical ward building, and this will increase the number of specialists in the future.

“This development will use the existing Limbang Hospital site, which means that it will be carried out in phases, and we already have a plan.

“Once the initial work is done, then we will take it to the Finance Ministry (MOF) and Economy Ministry to get approval to carry out the upgrading work,” he added.

He also said the cost estimates and number of required beds for the hospital will only be determined after the completion of preliminary work.

Also present were Sarawak Health Director Dr Veronica Lugah, Limbang Hospital Director Dr Syed Satahkatullah Mohd Kalik, and Limbang Divisional Health Officer Dr Norliza Jusoh. — DayakDaily
