KUCHING, Aug 15: Three areas in Sarawak were issued a Level 1 heat alert by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) as of 4pm on Friday (Aug 14).
In a Facebook post, the department said that the three areas were Marudi, Telang Usan, and Kapit.
Elsewhere, Telupid in Sabah was also issued a Level 1 heat alert.
“A Level 1 heat alert is issued when daily maximum temperatures reach 35 degrees Celsius to 37 degrees Celsius for at least three consecutive days,” said the department.
Members of the public have been reminded to drink plenty of water regularly, limit outdoor activities, wear sunscreen, use protection such as umbrellas or hats, and stay in shaded, well-ventilated, or air-conditioned areas whenever possible. — DayakDaily
