KUCHING, Sept 10: The late Dato Sri Ambrose Blikau Enturan prepared himself prior to his death.
Recalling their moments together, his widow Datin Sri Marie Therese Mathias said Ambrose had always told her not to worry as he had made the necessary arrangements should he pass away.
“Before his death, he always said that, ‘You don’t worry because I got everything ready for you and for my funeral’ (sic) and I would always tell him to not make me sad.
“Before his death, he asked me to bury him in Nirvana (Nirvana Memorial Park in Bau), and that made me so sad to hear that. I always told him not to talk about death because he was preparing himself for it,” she told reporters during the funeral wake for the former Katibas assemblyman at their residence in Tabuan Dusun here today.
She further recalled the three times that the late Ambrose had to be admitted to the hospital prior to his passing away.
“The first two times—he did not say anything, but on the third time, he felt different.
“Even when I had to return from the hospital to take a bath at home, he (Ambrose) would call me and tell me to come back and bring him home as he was not feeling good. I was so sad to hear that,” she added.
The late Ambrose, 70, passed away at Normah Medical Specialist Centre around 8.05am yesterday (Sept 9) due to lung infection.
He had served as an assemblyman for Katibas constituency for over 40 years between 1979 to 1987 and between 1991 to 2021.
He had also served in the Sarawak Cabinet as Assistant Minister of Resource Planning from 1987 to 2000, Assistant Minister of Finance (2001 to 2006), and as Assistant Minister of Rural Development and Public Utilities (2006 to 2009).
Looking back on their marriage life for the past 50 years, Marie said Ambrose had always been a kind person despite having a serious appearance.
In his final days, Marie said Ambrose was unable to talk well due to his deteriorating health where he had gone three weeks without eating and only relied on IV drips.
She also said by that point of time, she had refused any sort of medical attention to spare him the pain.
“Therefore, I just let him drift off by himself.
“The monitor stopped one by one and then he passed just like that,” she said. — DayakDaily
