Large majority of respondents to SPA online survey do not want Najib as PM

Sarawak Patriots Association

KUCHING, July 1:  An online survey by Sarawak Patriots Association (SPA) shows that 90.5 per cent of Sarawakians do not welcome the notion of Datuk Seri Najib Razak returning as Prime Minister.

SPA conducted the online poll following recent news reports of Batang Sadong MP Dato Sri Nancy Shukri claiming that many Sarawak would like Najib to return as prime minister.

The question posed was: “It was published that normal Sarawakians would want YB Datuk Seri Najib Razak back as Prime Minister. Do you support this proposition?”

The online survey was held from 9pm on June 28 to 12 noon on July 1.

“It is an online survey targeting Sarawakians who have the WhatsApp application on their cell phones.

“It represented 60 per cent urban dwellers and 40 per cent sub-urban dwellers. This survey did not cover the rural population as we do not have records of rural population phone numbers.

“A total of 25,500 invitations were sent to WhatsApp users on June 28, 2019 and June 29, 2019. As of 12 noon on July 1, 2019, a total of 21,580 responses were received.

“It represented 84.6 per cent of the total invitations,” said SPA in a statement today.

The association said out of the 21,580 responses received, 90.5 per cent did not want to see Najib back as Prime Minister, while 8.5 per cent of the respondents welcomed the idea.

Some of the comments given by the respondents include, “Never, never”, “our country may be ruined” and “we do not like him”.

SPA claimed that the reliability and confidence level of this online survey was 95 per cent with 5 per cent error. — DayakDaily
