KUCHING, Dec 17: A landslide affected a total of 48 occupants from the 14-door Rumah Unsa Skandis Kesit Lemanak, in Lubok Antu, yesterday.
Betong Fire and Rescue (Bomba) department in a statement today, said their station received the call at 10.20 pm, and deployed a team of three firefighters, led by PBK II Judi Numpang to the location.
“Based on the information given by the Tuai Rumah, the landslide occurred at around 7 pm, after heavy downpour in the area which started at 6 pm, yesterday.
“After doing a size up, firefighters found that the landslide affected the kitchen areas of doors number 17, 18 and 19, while the rest of the doors that were flooded with water which flowed into the longhouse due to a blocked drainage located at the back of the longhouse, caused by the landslide,” it said.
The statement noted, firefighters have taken some photos of the incident, including the details of those affected, and no operation was carried out.
“Firefighters also advised the longhouse residents avoid being in the kitchen areas, of which have been affected by the incident, and also to be on standby, in case of further occurrence of the landslide. –DayakDaily.
