‘Come re-join us’, PBDS cajoles founding member Leo Moggie

Bobby William

KUCHING, Dec 17: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) president Bobby William is inviting the former and founding president of PBDS Tan Sri Leo Moggie Irok to make a political comeback and return to PBDS.

“This will be a political milestone for the Dayak political struggle. I think it is the best time for him to return to politics and to unite the Dayaks.

“He did it before, let’s do it again. No issue with a lost cause. We have a lot of new faces and old faces in the party, and I think with his presence the party will be back to mainstream politics.

“He was the icon of the Dayaks, now and before. Let’s Tan Sri Leo disciplines the naughty Dayak. However, if (Tan Sri Leo) Moggie say no, then the Dayaks shall not rely on him anymore and we have to put our trust in new faces of the party,” Bobby said here today.

Since 2004, Moggie who is now 79, has retired from active politics and was appointed as chairman of Tenaga Nasional Berhad from 2004 till this year. Prior to that, Moggie was Kanowit’s MP for three decades from 1974-2004.

On another note, Bobby also calls for all partyless Dayaks and PBDS veterans to come back to the party.

“Our former leaders of PBDS should not feel guilty and think what their struggle was a lost cause. Therefore leaders such as Stanley Ajang Batok, Harisson Ngau Laing, Gabriel Adit and many others should make a comeback to be with the party,” he said.

Bobby also concurred with PBDS deputy president Major (Ret) Moses Ripai’s recent statement that some former PBDS leaders can accept their mistakes and but some were not.

“Those who are living in denial and paranoid have failed to move forward,” he said.

Bobby also hoped PBDS and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) could patch up and move forward as partners to further the struggle and aspirations of the Dayak community. -DayakDaily
