Landas Gives Back CSR Programme: RM25,800 distributed to individuals affected by sand dredging

KUCHING, Feb 2: The Sarawak government has launched an initiative requiring all companies licensed to conduct sand extraction to contribute to individuals who have lost their source of income or who have been impacted by sand dredging activities in Sarawak.

According to a press release, during the ‘Landas Gives Back Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme’ which is organised by the Sarawak Land and Survey Department, its deputy director of Management, Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood, stated that the Sarawak government has agreed to pay an initiative amounting to RM 25,800, which will be distributed to 43 people from six villages who have lost their source of income.

The villages involved include Kampung Segedup, Kampung Paroh, Kampung Maong, Kampung Sandong, Kampung Rantau Panjang, and Kampung Sejijak.

The contribution was obtained through the social responsibility fund by Magna Focus Sdn Bhd, as a licensee to extract sand near the villages involved.

The donation cheque handover ceremony was held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Feb 2, 2023.

Also present were Rozlan Putit, Deputy Director of Operations, Ahmad Daud Manan, Magna Focus Sdn Bhd, and Abang Jamallidon Abang Ullie, Head of the Enforcement Division. — DayakDaily
