Kuching’s Ryoga Kho triumphs at TennisMalaysia Junior Tour 2024 Leg 2 in Johor

KUCHING, March 10: In a stunning showcase of talent and determination, Ryoga Kho, a promising tennis talent hailing from SJK (C) Stampin, Kuching, has once again emerged victorious at the TennisMalaysia Junior Tour 2024 Leg 2 in Johor, held from March 5 to 9, 2024.

According to a press release, Kho’s exceptional performance stood out among the U12 contenders. He secured victories in both singles and doubles categories and established himself as the ultimate champion.

In the singles final, the young athlete faced Selangor’s Mak Zoo-M. Despite his opponent’s strong challenge, Kho maintained his composure and dominance, clinching victory with a commanding score of 6-1, 6-4.

“I’m happy with how I played and hope to join the national team,” said Kho, who also won the TennisMalaysia Junior Tour 2024 Leg 1 in Perak in January.

“Thanks to my coaches and supportive mother,” he added.

In the doubles category, Kho teamed up with his regular partner, Oezil Ajib from Kuala Lumpur, to deliver a remarkable performance. Their formidable duo faced off against tough competition, including Selangor’s Mak Zoo-M and Kedah’s Atif Izzuddin. Despite a fiercely contested match, Kho and Oezil showcased remarkable resilience and teamwork, emerging victorious with a hard-fought score of 4-2, 0-4, 10-7.

With his exceptional performances in both legs of the TennisMalaysia Junior Tour, Kho has ascended to the national ranking number one spot in the U12 boys category.

Kho expressed his aspiration to continue improving and emulate the footsteps of national player Lim Zan Ning, who trains alongside him.

“I really look up to Zan Ning,” Kho said with admiration.

“She’s not just about being the best on the court; she taught me to love tennis and put in the work without letting ego get in the way,” he was quoted as saying in the press release. — DayakDaily
