SIBU, Nov 15: A young man from Kuching experienced a nightmarish twist in his dream of marriage, losing around RM30,000 in wedding preparations due to deception by his fiancée, who was already married.

Adding to the unfortunate circumstances, the woman, purportedly with two children, allegedly collaborated with her father, resulting in the 28-year-old man’s financial loss related to the entire wedding arrangement cost, as reported by TVS.

Beyond the financial setback, the man, employed as an offshore worker, expressed deep disappointment, emphasising that his family’s honour had also suffered a blow due to the actions of the woman, who was claimed to be a member of a uniformed body working in the southern region.

In response to the distressing situation, the man filed a police report at the Daro police station on Nov 10. Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili confirmed the matter when contacted by Bernama yesterday, although he refrained from providing further details.

A Facebook post, gaining viral attention since Nov 13, revealed that the man had known the woman since 2021 and got engaged on Oct 12 last year in Kuching.

According to the man, they were supposed to hold the solemnisation ceremony on Nov 10 (Friday) and the wedding ceremony on Nov 11 at the bride’s house in Matu, Mukah.

“The day should be the happiest day for me but it turned into a nightmare,” he said through the message.

On the day the solemnisation ceremony was supposed to take place, the man and a group of 22 people arrived at the bride’s house but only to find no signs of preparations for the ceremony.

The victim then tried to contact his 30-year-old soon-to-be wife and also her father but failed.

“After that, I went to the neighbour’s house and apparently the owner of the house is the bride’s aunt. So we told her the purpose of the visit and asked if they know the bride or not.

“(I was even more) angry and was shocked when they told me her real name. Even worse, the woman is married and has two children,” he said in the message.

The victim also uploaded a picture of the woman and her father on Facebook. — DayakDaily
