KUCHING, March 13: The Kuching Firefighter’s Run 1.0, scheduled this Sunday (March 15), has been postponed adhering to advice from the State Disaster Management Committee.
Event organiser, Sarawak Fire and Rescue Zone 1, in a statement, informed that the a later date will be selected to organise the run. The new date will be announced once it has been decided.
“This is in line with the National Sports Council’s (NSC) decision on March 12, 2020, and also after considering the advise from the State Disaster Management Committee,” the statement read.
Yesterday, the committee issued a statement advising Sarawakians to postpone or defer all non-essential travel to Peninsular Malaysia and vice versa.
The committee advised parents to not bring their children for holidays to affected countries and other states in Malaysia. It also called for any gatherings involving more than 500 people to be postponed.
The advice came following World Health Organisation (WHO) declaring Covid-19 as a pandemic and also in view of the increase cases in Peninsular Malaysia. — DayakDaily
