KUCHING, Mar 13:   Local Government and Housing Minister Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian says State and federal agencies have since January this year been taking precautionary steps to prepare for any eventuality that Covid-19 may come ashore.

He said it is time for all Sarawakians to come together to fight Covid-19 and he called on everyone to work together to contain the disease in Sarawak.

“All federal and state agencies have been making the necessary preparation for this worst case scenario since late January 2020.

“Everyone has a role to play.  Please help do your part – keep personal hygiene, observe cough and sneeze etiquette, social distancing etc,” he said in his social media posting, a few minutes after the news of three Sarawakians tested positive being released.

When to use a mask?

He also called on Sarawkians to stay calm, and not to fear or spread rumours.

Dr Sim who is also Batu Kawa assemblyman also reminded the public that face masks are of limited supply not only in Sarawak but throughout the world.

“Let us use it appropriately and don’t waste single use face mask unnecessarily,” said Dr Sim.

Should you wear a mask?
