KUCHING, March 15: The Kuching Evangelical Church has decided to cancel the Sunday service today due to the evolving circumstances around Covid-19.
Pastor Brian King informed in a statement that the church has to cancel its March 15 service, as it was deemed to be the “wisest and most loving thing to do”.
“We continue to pray for our beloved state and nation. As Christians, let us continue to meditate on Psalm 91 in light of the Covid-19 situation — whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty,” he said.
He also advised members to check the church’s Facebook page and website for the latest updates.
Earlier yesterday evening, the church announced that it will be holding a final Sunday service to unite prayers for all during the Covid-19 pandemic before services are suspended for one month from March 22 onward.
The service was cancelled in view that Sarawak recorded six positive cases of Covid-19, bringing the total to nine cases as of yesterday (March 14).
The new cases recorded were in Limbang (two cases) and Kuching (four cases).
The State Disaster Management Committee also reported that there were 34 new suspected Covid-19 cases in Sarawak yesterday.
Of the cases, 20 persons-under-investigation (PUI) were at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and once each at Mukah and Bintulu hospitals.
With the cases since Jan 10 until today, Sarawak has a total of 372 cases, of which nine had been declared positive.
It also noted that another 260 cases tested negative and another 103 cases still pending laboratory test result. — DayakDaily
