KUCHING, Oct 7: The newly renovated surau in Kampung Kudei Baru has now become a focal point for the local community and transformed the village’s atmosphere, says Satok assemblyman Dato Ibrahim Baki.

“For this surau and its surroundings, Alhamdulillah, it has been renovated.

“With this facelift, I hope it will encourage villagers to organise activities besides performing congregational prayers,” he said after witnessing the handing of the completed renovation works by Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) to Surau Darul Ihsan’s management committee last on Thursday (Oct 6).

Ibrahim Baki added the surau’s management committee would be holding several activities such as ‘zikir’ and ‘hadrah’.

The project to renovate the surau was implemented under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project with DBKU as the implementing agency.

Construction work began on May 5 and was completed last month.
