KUCHING, July 15: The Kampung Kendaie funeral cluster in Lundu has swelled to 153 cases after reporting 120 new cases today.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 451 individuals have been screened as of today whereby 25 tested negative and 273 more people are awaiting laboratory test results.
To-date, there have been no recoveries or discharges yet, thus the number of active cases pertaining to the cluster remains at 153.
The Kampung Kendaie Cluster that was declared three days ago on July 12 stemmed from a funeral ceremony and a prayer meeting between June 30 to July 6 involving residents of Kampung Kendaie, which resulted in the initial 23 patients who tested positive.
At the time, only 48 individuals had been swabbed and 23 people comprising 22 citizens and one foreigner tested positive.
SDMC gave assurance that all positive patients have been admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and the Kuching Low-risk Treatment and Quarantine Centre (PKRC) for isolation and treatment purposes.
Meanwhile, Sarawak reported two new clusters today, which are the Salak Land Cluster in Kuching and the Sebayor Cluster in Samarahan.
Two more clusters were declared to have expired, and thus, the State is left with 98 active clusters. ā DayakDaily
