KPDNHEP Miri seizes diesel, items worth RM176,660 in early morning raid in Tukau

MIRI, AUG 10: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KDPNHEP) Miri early this morning raided a suspected illegal diesel storage facility in Tukau.

Miri KPDNHEP chief, Joe Azmi Jamil, said in the raid at 4.30am, they seized 12,400 litres of diesel, a tanker lorry, and equipment used to transfer the fuel, with the total seizure estimated to be worth RM176,660.


Also detained to faciliate investigations were three local men aged between 16 to 60-years-old.

“We acted on this case after three weeks of intelligence work. Diesel was bought from various petrol stations around the city before lorry tankers transported it to the storage facility where the diesel was kept,” he said when contacted today.

The premises does not have a valid licence or documents from the supply controller to carry out activities involving controlled goods like subsidised diesel.

The case is being investigated under Section 20(1) and 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961. — DayakDaily
