KUCHING, Dec 23: The Ministry of Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) has assured that there is a sufficient supply of petrol and diesel fuel in flood affected areas throughout the country.

Its enforcement director Azman Adam in a statement today said during the meeting conducted on Dec 22 which was attended by all OILCO representatives in the country, KPDNHEP has agreed to provide escort assistance to OILCO lorries that deliver fuel supplies to disaster areas, especially in ensuring that they are not obstructed by traffic congestion or other obstacles.

“The Ministry has also instructed all OILCOs to ensure that there is no disruption in the supply of petrol and diesel and to take preparatory measures to ensure that the delivery of petrol and diesel supplies can be carried out quickly to the affected areas.

“The Ministry has requested to OILCO which owns ROVR or Mobile Petrol Stations to utilise such apparatus and services in areas where all petrol stations have to be closed,” he said.

Azman noted during the meeting that it was also decided that petrol stations that have been disrupted of their operations or had to close due to floods or other disasters must make an immediate report to the State KPDNHEP Enforcement Division.

He emphasised that oil companies were also requested to report the current situation before 10pm starting today.

“The details of the report must state the name and location of the oil company, closure period, expected times to resume operation, as well as other supply-related problems at petrol stations located in disaster areas.
