KUCHING, Feb 28: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has submitted a request to the Premier’s Office to use RM1 million of his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funds to install additional streetlights in response to numerous requests from Kota Sentosa residents.

According to a press statement, Yap was at the Sarawak Ministry of Utility and Telecommunications (MUT) office for a briefing and discussion with representatives from Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sarawak Energy), Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), and Kuching South City Council (MBKS) regarding the implementation of the RTP for the installation of streetlights totaling RM1 million for the state constituency of Kota Sentosa.

“Adequate street lights are important as they increase visibility, promote road safety for drivers and pedestrians, and can discourage night time theft or violence,” as stated in the press statement.

In addition, Yap and community leaders from his constituency will continue to closely monitor the implementation of the project to prevent unnecessary delays.

The GPS Sarawak government backbencher has reiterated that he is committed to using the RTP funds allotted to N12 Kota Sentosa to upgrade and improve basic facilities and amenities, such as community halls, public roads, and drains, for the benefit of the local populace.

Meanwhile, Yap added that his Pusat Khidmat N12 Kota Sentosa is always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone experiencing problems in his constituency or who comes across issues of public interest but is unsure how to handle them.

Anyone requiring assistance can always call his service centre’s mobile number at 082-265513 or 011-31893319, or go directly to his service centre at E-2-25, 2nd Floor, Gala Street Mall, Gala City, Jalan Tun Jugah, Kempas Heights, 93350 Kuching, Sarawak to request for assistance. — DayakDaily
