KUCHING, Oct 30: A sum of RM200,000 has been allocated for SJKC Stampin, Jalan Kempas here under Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap’s 2023 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project funding to carry out the requested upgrading works which will be implemented and supervised by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

According to a press release issued today, the school’s Parent-Teacher Association has requested Yap’s assistance in upgrading the school hall by installing an LED screen and tiling the corridor on the first floor of the school building, as the current flooring was not level or smooth.

“Upon being notified of the approval for usage of his RTP funding of RM200,000 for the upgrading works, YB Wilfred Yap requested a site visit with the MBKS councillors and officers to brief them on the requests made by the Parent-Teacher Association and school principal for them to prepare the plans, specifications, and bill of quantities for the requested upgrading works.

“MBKS officers were requested to speed up the preparation of the scope of upgrading works for the installation of an LED screen in the school hall and tiling works on the first floor of the corridor of the school building to ensure the benefits from the upgrading works can be delivered speedily for the benefit of the teachers and students of SJKC Stampin, Jalan Kempas,” read the press release.

It went on to say that during the visit, Yap requested the teachers to continue guiding and teaching their students about the importance of unity in diversity because the country has a diverse racial and religious background.

“More importantly, teachers should impart simple concepts of unity and teach their students without partiality or prejudices as we are all one people, and teachers should set aside their personal biases when handling sensitive discussions related to conflicts in the middle east, racial and religious sentiments.

“The last thing that we want to happen is to see our classrooms polarised by political sentiments.”

As per the press release, Yap gave his commitment that he will continue to improve the facilities of all the schools in his constituency of N12 Kota Sentosa by systematically and fairly allocating his RTP funding for their repairs and upgrading works. — DayakDaily
