KUCHING, March 22: The grand opening ceremony of a bar in Kuala Lumpur which will feature men in lingerie from Bangkok was found to have an expired restaurant license.

A political secretary to the Prime Minister, Azman Abidin said the premises, which was originally licensed as a restaurant, also did not have an entertainment licence. There was also no application for an entertainment license or application to carry out entertainment activities.

Based on a preliminary investigation by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), it has been found that the premises was licensed as a restaurant to Beijing 9 Sdn Bhd.

“However, the company’s restaurant licence expired on Feb 4, 2021,” he said in a statement today.

According to Azman, an investigation was carried out after they received a report regarding the event which is expected to be held on March 30.

He said after examining the advertisement on the bar’s Facebook page, they found out that the event will feature male waiters dressed in women’s attire known as ‘Thai Hot Guy’, as the main attraction.

“DBKL is also in the review process to take enforcement action if there is any violation of rules and conditions by the organisers,” he added.

Meanwhile, Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) Youth expressed objection to the grand opening of the premises which will feature ‘Thai Hot Guy’.

Its chief Isham Sharudin said practices and cultures like this should be not organised and blocked to avoid slander against ruling government institutions.

He also said in addition, the organisation of the programme could pollute the sanctity of Ramadhan month.

“In order to maintain the harmony of civil society in this country, PBM Youth calls for and requests that the local authorities and also the agencies involved as well as the government to take this matter seriously and therefore not allow this programme to take place,” said Isham. — DayakDaily
