KUCHING, Jan 11: The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (Keadilan) Bandar Kuching and Stampin branch is conducting a Food Aid Drive campaign to distribute food and daily essentials for poor families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, starting today.
According to Keadilan Bandar Kuching branch Women chief Cherishe Ng, the Food Aid Drive is part of a broader Community Service Project for Keadilan aiming at relieving the poor and needy of their hardship in times of emergency besides being one of the agendas that Keadilan is pushing for N.11 Batu Lintang.
“We will review the matter on a case-by-case basis since the campaign is to reach out to families desperately in need of help.
“Families residing in these areas can apply for assistance through the campaign by filling a simple application form which is available at the Keadilan Bandar Kuching Office starting from Jan 11, 2021, until Jan 22, 2021, from 9.30 am to 5.00 pm,” she said in a statement today.
Ng pointed out that the campaign is open to all, but priority will be given to those in the Bottom 40 per cent (B40) group, including single parents, and also to those living in the Kuching and Stampin areas due to transportation issues.
“The lower income group of people bear the brunt of the current pandemic and we will not sit and watch with indifference,” she added.
Among the items to be distributed are ordinary food items donated by generous sponsors and members of the public which are not high-value items, and safe for consumption.
