Karaoke pub owner fined RM1,000 for operating beyond stipulated hours

KUCHING, July 29: The Magistrates’ Court here fined a karaoke pub owner RM1,000 for operating a public entertainment business beyond operation hours stipulated by Kuching South City Commission (MBKS).

Ferino Jagam, 31, from Kampung Tarat Mawang, pleaded guilty to the charge.


Magistrate Nuruhuda Mohd Yusof sentenced him to a fine of RM1,000 or in default to 2 months’ imprisonment.

Ferino was found to have operated a public entertainment business beyond operation hours stipulated by MBKS, at his business premises, at about 3.05am on May 19, 2019.

He was charged under By-Law 24 of the Entertainment By-laws 2001, punishable under By-Law 28 of the same By-laws, which carries a fine not exceeding RM2,000 or imprisonment not exceeding six months, or both upon conviction.
