Kapitan dies in road crash in Debak

BETONG, Aug 13: A local Chinese community leader died when the four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle he was driving crashed at KM2 Jalan Ulu Rimbas, Debak, last night.

According to state Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, the deceased, identified as Kapitan Chua Ii Jen, 51, was believed to have died on the spot due to head and neck injuries.

Chua was driving a Navara when the accident happened at about 7pm.


“Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle, driven by Chua from Ulu Rimbas, went out of control and crashed on the left side of the road,” said Alexson.

At the time of the accident, the weather was reportedly fine and the road surface was dry.

Chua’s remains have been taken to Betong Hospital for a post-mortem.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
