Kanowit folk starting to distance themselves from Parti Sarawak Bersatu

Asay Abol

KUCHING, March 27: A community leader from Ng Kabah in Kanowit, Tuai Rumah Asay Abol, today told Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) not to try to enter his longhouse as it is a Gabungan Parti Sarawak and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (GPS/PRS) stronghold.

“We want to warn PSB not to enter our area, including my longhouse at Ng Kabah. If you are GPS-friendly, please do not do this to sabotage another GPS component party since we are all staunch supporters of PRS, which is in GPS,” Asay, who is also Ng Kabah JKKK chairman, told DayakDaily today.

He said Ng Kabah, which is about 65km from Kanowit town, had a population of about 500 people.

Asay revealed that PSB had planned to organise a party event at Rumah Gani, which is located near his longhouse this weekend.

When contacted, Ngemah assemblyman Alexander Vincent said he was very disappointed with PSB as it had been moving around in PRS-majority areas.

“We will have no complaints if they go to their own areas such as Engkilili, Bawang Assan and Sri Aman from which Datuk Masir Kujat is from. But they should not enter into areas where GPS is already established,” he said.

He added that PSB’s planned programme at Rumah Gani this weekend would not materialise at it is also a PRS stronghold.

“I have one question to ask PSB. Are you still with GPS or are you trying to undermine us?” he asked.

PSB has been reported to be moving aggressively on the ground, especially in Selangau and Kanowit, which are both PRS strongholds.— DayakDaily
