KUCHING, Sept 2: People from Kampung Lutong, Kampung Menek and Sebuyau town, which are currently under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will be provided with food aid, said Sebuyau assemblyman Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

The three areas are undergoing the EMCO from Sept 1 until Sept 14.

Julaihi said it was normal practice to give basic food items to those undergoing the EMCO or home quarantine during this Covid-19 pandemic.

“During ordinary quarantine time involving a few people or a few houses, my service centre will distribute basic food items from time to time when there are quarantine orders issued to them.

“So now that EMCO or PKPD has been declared for these three areas, similar assistance will be given by the Welfare Department and my service centre,” Julaihi said when contacted.

Julaihi, who is Assistant Minister of Port Development, added that the villagers of Kampung Belimbing Besi and Kampung Luyong, also in Sebuyau constituency, were also given food items by the Welfare Department and Sebuyau service centre during the EMCO from Aug 28 until Sept 10.

He pointed out Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) members and local leaders of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) have also lent a helping hand and will continue to do so for the three newly declared EMCO areas. — DayakDaily
