JPJ urges vehicle owners to provide latest address details

The JPJ press statement reminding vehicle owners to update their address details.

KUCHING, June 6: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) advises all vehicle owners to update their home address details with the department soonest possible.

In a statement issued today, JPJ said the directive was issued based on subsection 58A (1) Road Transport Act 1987.

“This subsection requires every registered vehicle owner or licensee who have changed their addresses in Malaysia to inform JPJ of the change concerned within two months after the change of address.

“Failure to inform about the change of address or giving a false address or partial address is against the law,” said the statement.

JPJ reminded the public to update their information and addresses free of charge at the nearest JPJ office or Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) throughout the country.

JPJ says those who have mySIKAP ID can update their information online without having to travel to JPJ offices.

“Because of that, the public are encouraged to register and obtain their mySIKAP ID to settle any matters concerning JPJ online,” said the department. — DayakDaily
